This book picks up a couple of years after the main part of Amnesia (but perhaps not so long after the epilogue scene) and we get to know the 'new' Xander Barrett. I say new because two years in prison will change a man. I had wondered why we'd seen so little of this key player in Amnesia, but now I get it. It would have been difficult to reconcile the man we would have seen before with the man we meet in Attest.I wish I'd had the time to re-read Amnesia before this, and if you can I would recommend doing so, as I did spend a chunk of time 'catching up' on the story. Unlike in Book 1, I didn't feel much of a connection between Xander and Amber. A good chunk of this was due to how much they had both changed, as well as the stressful circumstances they were facing. However I also didn't really feel much of a spark from Amber's side.
Whilst the first book was very much a dark, psychological thriller this had a more suspense/thriller feel. The actual story is only just over an hour of reading time, there is a chunk of other stuff at the end. I really enjoyed the book, it kept my attention through out and is well written, but it did feel rushed at one point. The pacing is excellent throughout the majority of the book, but during the 'cabin scene' I felt some opportunities to re-establish their relationship were missed. I'm not talking sex scenes either, I wanted them to really talk about everything. Also, whilst I know B had to be kept in the dark about the truth, for me it didn't make sense to keep Xander in the dark. I totally got Amber's view of 'my kids come above everything'. A very brave and welcome move by the author. For 99% of mothers that would be the truth, yet normally books don't reflect this because the guy has to come first.
I really liked the epilogue, even if it did give me shudders. The implication that, given the right set of circumstances, your moral compass can be so altered - loved it.

A quickie wrap up to the Centrifuge Duet. Mostly told from Xander's perspective. Honestly the happenings in this book were unexpected to me, but made sense considering everything Xander has been put through by everyone involved with Centrifuge. If you read Amnesia, and are looking for the conclusion of the story... then this is it!
"A man's got to do what a man's got to do."
Attest is the highly anticipated second instalment in the Centrifuge series by Kylie Hillman. The first book Amnesia twisted my mind, left me on the edge of my seat needing to know what happens. To say that I was excited to get my hands on this book is a bit of an understatement- I have been anticipating it for quite some time and am really thrilled to finally get to read it.

This story is every bit as good as I had hoped it would be, if not more. Ms. Hillman didn't disappoint. This book managed to turn me inside out, as I followed the story as it twisted and turned its way through to the end. I devoured it in one sitting and loved every word! I could read Ms. Hillman's work every single day and never tire of it! She has a real talent for blowing her readers minds with the stories she creates. They are original, well developed, thrilling, really well written, and manage to evoke a plethora of emotional responses and feelings.
The book is Xander Barrett's tale. He's no longer the man we met in the first book- forever a changed man. We discover exactly how much he's lost since being imprisoned for crimes he didn't commit. His conscience and morals that he held so highly and that were once an asset, are now nothing but a liability. This is his quest for revenge, his chance to take back what was his.
Absolutely Brilliant!
Kudos, and thank you Ms. Hillman!

This book picks up a couple of years after the main part of Amnesia, which didn't exactly end on a cliffhanger, but it w Let me begin to say that this duet could - and in my eyes should! - have been just one book!! I was kind of disappointed by the (lack of!) length of this book. On my iPad Attest had 264 pages, however, after 182 pages it was already finished; the rest was non-info and a long sneak peek. (The sneak peek at the end of Amnesia did made me start the Black Shamrocks MC series, btw.)
This book picks up a couple of years after the main part of Amnesia, which didn't exactly end on a cliffhanger, but it was clear that the story wasn't finished. This part of the Duet was mainly in Xander's POV, of whom we hadn't heard much in the first part.
Just like in Amnesia, not everything in the story was logical or consistent… but it didn't really bothered me. IMO there were enough issues that could have been more elaborated, which would have made this a full-fledged book though.
Together Amnesia and Attest were a 5 star read for me. Amazing, well made story; I really enjoyed this duet! 😊
Rating for this book just 4 stars because of its disappointing length and the (frustrating!) time and time again postponed release date.
The frustrating 'history', lol! (view spoiler)[ Finally, FINALLY it's here!!

The long awaited second book in the Centrifuge Duet certainly doesn't disappoint. This author really knows her stuff and by that I mean she can certainly spin an amazing story with her creative mind. The action basically continues into this half of the story straight away from the first page!Amber is married to Dr Jaxon Ray and they have two young children. Jax and his team are about to release the new 'wonder drug-Centrifuge-for Alzheimer sufferers. Xander is in prison on bogus charges of murder and malicious intent to harm and he has been for two years. A totally unexpected visitor meets up with him to propose a future plan. The question is should he accept her proposal or not?
Wow! This is an action packed story with twists and turns to keep you on your toes..I love it!
Told in two parts with the first from Xander's point of view and the second Amber's point of view. Even two epilogues told from both points of view.
'My partner is one screw lose and a couple of dollars short of sane.' Xander thinks about B. Great expressions like this lighten this darkish story and show us what the characters are truly like. This book isn't nearly as dark as book one and balances things beautifully. It is a fast paced story and extremely easy to read.
Amber's inner strength really shines in this book. The characters have all changed in quite substantial ways, except for Jax..he was and still is a scoundrel! The settings are clearly described to make it easy to visualise.

Even though Xander is a pawn in the game, I love how he is making his own rules. He was trying to figure out how far to step outside the line and get where he needs to be. Amber... I liked her in the first book but she was annoying me just a little in this one. There was a lack a communication on her part, which pissed me off.
However, Amber was a hard cookie. When she loved, she loved hard. She protected what was hers. Many believed that she was a pawn in the game, which was set, but it wasnt the case. The ending was awesome. I just wish Amber trusted Xander a little more than she did. Oh I loved the dual epilogue. The conclusion of the book wasn't told just from Amber's pov but had Xander in mind as well.

Amber and the kids... yeah not Holy crap, Batman! This was the perfect sequel to Amnesia. Loose ends from that book get tied up rather nicely in this book. I have waited for this book and I'm so happy to finally have it. If there was one thing I'd change it would be how Jax was dealt with. He gets exactly what he deserves.

Once again, we are immersed into a world made up of lies, danger, death and blackmail. Jax and his allies are still trying to promote the drug Centrifuge, but things don't go as planned. The story that follows is one of retribution and revenge.

This is a story that takes you down a dark path and has you wondering what is going to happen next. It is the story of Xander Barrett. He is a man that got caught up in an evil game that found him on the losing end. Not only did he lose the woman that he loved, he lost his freedom as well. This story picks up with Xander being offered freedom, a strange type of parole. All he has to do is sacrifice his conscience and all the morals that he has ever known. This story takes you into the mind of Xander and what he thinks of his current situation and what is being offered him. You read of how his life has changed and what he has had to do in order to stay alive. This is a story of a man that is finding out what lengths he is willing to go to in order to gain freedom and revenge. Who has made the offer to Xander? This is a story where not everything is as it seems. It will have you asking questions about what is going on and trying to put together clues as to where everything is leading to. It had me on the edge of my seat and trying to navigate through all the twists and turns. This is an author who has written a truly amazing series. You are taken on a dark journey to places that will have you asking yourself, "What would I do if in that situation?" This is a series that must be read in order to fully understand everything that is happening. This story does have mature subject matter. I would recommend it for those 18 years of age or older.

Xander is an awesome character, and what he has had to endure for couple years since we last read about him is nothing short of torture. I wasn't sure how he was going to handle the proposal that was offered to him being the type of person that he was, but once again this author has weaved a story with some twists along the way. At one point I had to stop and say "wait a minute, what did I just read?" and sure enough after rereading that part I was like Holy crap, and everything I thought got flipped upside down. I devoured this story in one sitting, the flow left no room for taking many breaths while reading. This author is a brilliant creative storyteller and everyone needs to read her books, I don't care what genre you like or don't like, these books are AWESOME!!!
The only negative I can give about this series is that it ended, I want more!!! In my opinion it left a lot of room for more from these characters and I will be stalking, or i mean following this author diligently for any kind of followups.
And as I stated in my last review...Well played again Miss Hillman, well played...

This is the second book of the Centrifuge Duet by Kylie Hillman. It is definitely IMPORTANT to read the books in order as they are a duet and play on each other as so beautifully. This one we learn a lot more about Xander and where he is what is going on with him since the last book left off. Book, one was a on the edge of your seat reader and this one will definitely promise to keep you right there as well. We left book one with Xander being in charged for two murders that he didn't commit and sentenced to life in prison. He is serving a very unusual sentence as it is when an even more unusual offer of "parole" is offered to him by his very own worst enemy, Belinda, or more commonly referred to as B. It isn't really an offer he can deny, no really, he has no choice take the offer or die, but the conditions are the tricks that will truly test the man he has become.
"It's my newfound freedom that's driven home exactly how much I've lost. My conscience. My morals. My innate goodness that doomed me to be one of life's losers."
That is just one side of Xander though. The other has a heart still in there and a thing for the love that he lost when he went to prison, and also plays another major role in this book.
"He makes it sound so simple. Except it's anything but. I'm' just a school teacher. I can't kill anyone."
This back and forth tug of war with his conscience and heart and his past is what makes for a really great twist read with an ending to love.

Attest cannot be read as a standalone as it follows directly where Amnesia left off. This story is told in both Xander and Amber's POV, something that I really appreciated as we got all sides of the story. I managed to be completely shocked while reading this which shouldn't be surprising as I read the first book, every time I thought I had it pieced together I ended up being wrong. Nothing is as it seems, ever. The main and supporting characters are all slightly deranged, playing twisted games that have grave consequences. Thankfully all questions are answered in this book!
Kylie Hillman is a phenomenally talented author who has written an unforgettable tale. A story that's so haunting it's always on your mind. I will always recommend Centrifuge Duet to all book lovers as it has something to offer everyone. It's intriguing, mysterious, and shocking with romance and murder all wrapped in one. It's honestly one of the best stories I've ever read. It's 100% unique and definitely worth more then a 5 star review. I am very much so looking forward to reading more of her work in the future!

I loved what Kylie did with this book, and I loved the storyline. The sequel to Amnesia, which readers really should read first or the context of this book will be lost. For me, there was a lot missing, the book was too short and much more could have made of it. The book starts with you learning about Xander, and the life he has led in prison for crimes he did not commit. When he gets an offer, which will result in release, he has to fight with his conscience to decide if the price he will have to make is worth it, can he murder for Amber? Although reluctant at first, Xander soon decides that being back with Amber, is worth any price.
When Xander is released he is effectively being "controlled" and told what to do and when to do. But, he decides very early on to try and change that and Xander does his research and takes some risky decisions, which result in actions that could backfire on him. What he doesn't realize, is that the people he thinks are in control are not. This is where for me a lot more could be made of story line. More could have made of how Amber, Belinda & Harry got to where they are today and how Xander's release from prison was arranged.
The end of book implies what happens to a lot of the 'villians' in he plot, but leaves a lot of open ends. The epilogue to the book brushes over the consequences of the events on the villians and gives you an insight as to how both Xander & Amber have changed as a direct result of these events.
In all a very good book, but missed opportunities to go into a lot more detail.

You are truly a brilliant writer that has the ability of kidnapping us readers and plopping us right smack in the middle of your plot. And not only do you drop me there, you make me want to stay!
I haven't experienced the likes of it before. And that's saying a lot as I am an avid reader!
This is a pretty disturbing book, at times, keeping in tune with the first book and it makes you wonder how far you'd be willing to go too, if pushed.
Xander Barrett gets the spotlight in this one and ohh my, he is worthy of it!
I urge you to read Amnesia first, as you would be missing a lot by skipping it.
Thankfully, Kylie Hillman delivers amazingly in both books and the only regret you'll have is that you waited until now to read this series!
Final thoughts - WAY better then ANYTHING I've read by Mr. King himself.

We also get to read about how his life a changed and what he's had to do to stay alive.i love this author and how the style of writing kinda tricks your mind but in a good way.i was literally trying to figure out what twist and turns the author was going to take us on next. This is a must read book as things see not as they may seem . I can't wait to read more from this author.

Attest: Centrifuge Duet Book Two by Kylie Hillman is a fantastic second book to follow up all of wonderfulness that is the first book. This story is based on Xander's point of view, and although I would have preferred Amber's point of view again, it was a refreshing change. 5 stars! In this book, the story is told by Xander, who is Amber's ex fiancée. It is crazy how much time had passed from the end of the first book, to the beginning of the second. The story basically updates you on the whereabouts of all the characters, and the revenge plan that has been set into motion.
I hate, loathe, despise, every negative thought, I have towards Jax. And in this book I get to see him knocked down a couple pegs if not more and it brings me pure joy! A heads up on this book, you may think you know who is behind the plan to take out all the people involved with the drug centrifuge, but you will be dead wrong. I was surprised as well excited to see all of the plans play out. The ending gives a hint of more to come and I can't wait to see what happens next.
Yes this book is dark, but it is also very intriguing to me and very well written. I love everything about this Author and these books and highly, highly recommend anyone 18+ read this book. I would not recommend this book as a stand alone.
